ChatGPT → Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server.
Paste your personal connection address.
Choose authentication / sign in, then create as a plugin.
Start a new chat and select your Congeal plugin.
Sign in and approve access when your browser opens on your workspace.

4. Choose how memories save

When your workspace asks you to sign in and approve access, allow memory read, save, update, and delete only—not broad workspace access. Choose “Save and update memories directly” so the Congeal web UI is optional for day-to-day saves. Prefer to approve each item first? Choose review instead and use the Congeal UI for those.

Your assistant may still ask in chat before it uses memory tools. Approve those prompts when you want it to read or change your memories.

5. Quick check

Confirm save, recall, revise, and delete with one harmless rule. Assistants do not use memory on every message.

Congeal setup test: when I ask for the setup codeword, answer only with the word plinth.

Ask your assistant to save the exact rule shown below.
In a new chat, say: “Retrieve my Congeal setup-test rule and tell me its codeword.” Confirm the answer matches the rule—do not put the codeword in your prompt.
Revise that same memory to use a different codeword (do not save a duplicate).
In another fresh chat, retrieve the rule again and confirm the updated codeword.
Delete only that test memory and confirm it no longer comes back.

Troubleshooting

ChatGPT shows an OIDC option from a well-known alias—turn OIDC off and try again.
Connector added but nothing happens: enable it for this chat (ChatGPT: pick the plugin; Claude: + → Connectors).
You want direct save but chose review: disconnect, reconnect, and pick “Save and update memories directly.”
Sign-in failed or expired: remove the connector and add it again.
Address shown but workspace not ready: wait a few minutes after checkout, refresh this page, then retry.

What to expect

Congeal keeps the rules and decisions you approve so a connected assistant can find them in later chats. It does not force every model to use memory or follow a saved rule.
